LONDON WEEKEND - COUNTRY2COUNTRY AT THE O2, A SHOW AND SIGHTSEEING

A fabulous 4 days spent in our capital city, primarily to go to the Country 2 Country show at the O2 but it kind of got extended. Trains to Greenwich where we stayed at the Devonport Hotel for 2 nights. Had a lovely trip up the Thames on a City Cruises boat to Houses of Parliament, wandered the sights, Lyceum tavern for dinner before attending the show "Beautiful" at the Aldwych theatre. It's the story of Carole King, it was superb!

Next day we spent the day in Greenwich, visited the National Maritime Museum (free), Cutty Sark, the Old Royal Naval College Chapel of St Peter & St Paul, The Painted Hall. Walked up to the Royal Observatory, then back to listen to a lovely lunchtime recital in the Chapel. In the evening we went to the O2 and had a whale of a time - Country music is just the best and we were not the only ones to think that! It was an experience just going there let alone seeing all the acts in the pop up stages and the main arena. I felt quite posh sitting in the Superbreak suite - very select only 40 people max. and a great view. Gone are the days when I want to stand in the centre for 4 hours being crushed.

We moved hotels using the City Cruise boat to take us to the Tower Hotel, right next to Tower Bridge, we spent the afternoon at the Tower of London then a great meal at the Hung, Drawn & Quartered pub.
On the last day we made our way back to the O2 for the last evening of the Country 2 Country Show. Some fantastic artists - we will return next year for the 3 days.
