LAST DAY - ASTON TO HENLEY ON THAMES CIRCULAR WALK 9 OCTOBER 2022

Another beautiful sunny, warm day! Is this really October?!

We drove the very short distance to Aston and parked at the now closed for renovation Flowerpot Hotel and had a lovely walk through Remenham Woods and fields to Henley on Thames. A busy little town with endless canoeists up and down the river. Coffee at Starbucks! Roy even suggested it!

Back by the Thames Path again a peaceful walk with lunch away from the deadly Red Kites who we saw swoop down and steal a man's sandwich.

Past Hambleden Lock built in 1773 with a big weir at the side and returned to our car. Our last day, it has been superb!

The photos are in reverse order.....don't ask!

DAY THREE SAVILL GARDEN TO VIRGINIA WATER WALK

Another glorious sunny and warm day! We drove into Windsor Great Park and had a lovely walk around Virginia Water, seeing endless trees of all kinds, a totem pole, some ruins, lots of fairy toadstools, a coffee cart and lakes and ponds. It's a popular place and although car park was busy it was fine walking through the endless trails.

DAY TWO A 6 MILE THAMES PATH WALK TO MARLOW AND BACK 7/10/22

Sunshine again with a gusty wind we walked the 3 mile Thames Path to Marlow, a lovely walk past locks, bridges, boats and swans. The Thames Path starts at its source near Cirencester and finishes at the Thames Barrier, 180 miles.
Had a wander round Marlow and found the pub mentioned by my niece called The Hand and Flowers which was far beyond our budget, but even if I could afford it I was not impressed by the £155 three course meal with buttered cabbage and mashed potatoes the vegetables served with the meals! Still each to his own!

We had a look around Hurley before heading back, a lovely day!

AUTUMN VISIT TO WINDSOR 5TH OCTOBER 2022

We have visited all the States in America but never seen Windsor! After watching the emotional funeral of our Queen, we decided it was time to see this part of Britain.

We drove down in pouring rain, had a disaster with the caravan just 35 minutes away from the site when Roy accidentally drove over a roundabout and moved the motor mover on to the tyre causing smoke etc. We found a layby and he did what he does best, bodged it so we could drive with the mover taken off and lashed under the van, my hero! Needs to change tyre and job to sort out with mover when back home. so we arrived at pm, having taken 8 hours.

Next day Thursday dawned bright clear and warm, we drove to a free car park just off the long mile and walked along the opposite way from the Castle to a monument of George then all the way back along the Long Walk to the Castle. Spotted a few deer and heard their bugling, its rutting season! Bit of a panic as my batteries on camera failed so had to use my phone, I'm not the best with a phone!

No Queue to get in the Castle and all I can say it was magnificent! Both outside and in the State Apartments it was mind blowing. We then had a short queue to go into St Georges Chapel which was stunning and very emotional for me seeing the stone marking Queen Elizabeth, her husband, her mother and fathers resting place. So as we had to walk past the stone quite quickly and there was no queue as we left, we went round again!

Had a lovely meal at good old Wetherspoons then the walk back to the car! A magical day!
