Drove to campsite called Longfield farm campsite, Flagg near Bakewell. Took 3 hours lovely site basic shower and toilet but smart. £25 a night. Heatwave time.
Friday 26th June
After thunder and torrential short episodes of rain early morning temp reached 30+ in the day.
Drove to Baswell and parked, did short walk past Chatsworth House which turned out to be marked for our route tomorrow. Tea and cake in Tea Room at Edensor after picnic under trees overlooking House. Icecream when back. So hot hope it cools for tomorrow
THE TREK DAY SATURDAY 27 JUNE OUR 34TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
A beautiful hot day with some wind, all to plan set off at 8.30. First part was easy 7.3 miles, as it got hotter after lovely lunch got harder but finished taking 6 hours including all breaks and lunch. Fizz at end as usual. quite emotional for Alan.
Had a meal at Sheldon at Cock and Pullet, very old fashioned pub and basic meals.

Sunday 28 June 2026Lazy day after rain at first, weather cooled by 10 o to 18/20. Drove to Ashton in the Water looked round pretty small village. On to Bakewell, shops and busy, had coffee and cake in the Old Bakewell Pudding shop. Drove up to Monsal Top, pretty. Stopped to look at Magpie Mine relics old lead mine.
