Just 18 miles to Golden Square caravan park for 3 or 4 days to test the caravan before our hols next month to Scotland.
The weather was not expected to be good but our first day was superb.
We drove the short distance to Sutton Bank Visitor Centre and walked a 7 mile route along Sutton Bank escarpment , down to Kilburn White Horse along to Lake Gormire and back up a steep climb to Sutton Bank and the coffee shop for a well deserved tea and scone. A beautiful day!
Second day we had a lovely 5 mile walk across East Moors, woods, moorland, lambs, pheasants, rabbits and two beautiful country churches.... and no rain as was forecast! ST MARY MAGDALENE EASTMOORS

Our last day, a 6 mile walk around Ashberry Woods (where Roy volunteers with Yorkshire Wildlife), Cold Kirby and Old Byland. On our way through the woods a dog ran past us, no one with him. He led us all the way through, up on to the road and ended up near Rievaulx Abbey, we managed to get hold of him and saw he was from a farm we had passed a long way back. Stuck the one eyed Dexter in the car and took him home. Lady said he's well known, and would eventually have gone back home, she did thank us said he'd be worn out now! A lovely walk with flowers galore, primroses, bluebells, wood anemones and trees! We've really enjoyed our three days walking, good to get back into Nature. And no rain!
