Our first trip out this year with the caravan after its winter rest. Playing safe as weather not that wonderful, so staying near to home.
Weather superb, in the 20s with a bit of a haze.
First day we did a lovely 7km walk from Bilsdale and Fangdale beck up onto the top of the open moor with views of the Hawnby hills and the head of Ryedale. not a soul in sight the whole walk!
Back to Helmsley as the market was finishing but in time for the mandatory ice-cream

LUNCH TIME ON THE TOP OF THE MOOR
Our second day dawned sunny and hot, bit disappointed we did not see the Northern lights last night, sat waiting at the top of a hill near the campsite but looking at peoples times they saw them, we didn't wait long enough. Back home in Strensall it looked amazing.
We drove to Hawnby and did a 9 km circuit around Ladhill Gill and the River Rye after climbing up and down Hawnby Hill. A few errors with book and map but Roy sorted it out.
LUNCH TIME ON THE MOOR
Our last day, misty at first before the sun shone through. We parked at Sneck Yate and did a lovely circular walk around Boltby, first along the escarpment on the Cleveland Way then down and up again. A lovely surprise near the end at High Paradise Farm of afternoon coffee/chocolate and cake! Perfect end!
