ALZHEIMERS TREK 13 IN NORTHUMBERLAND 24 MAY 2025

 Four nights in van in Craster at Proctors Stead Caravan Park to do the Alzheimer's Trek 13 mile course starting at Alnmouth.

Endless sunshine but very cold wind, we spent first day looking round Alnmouth, Warkworth and Amble, a lazy but lovely day.

The day of the trek, up early started at 8.30 and it was a beautiful walk along the coast to the 7 mile marker at the farm for lunch. Had half an hour.

Finished! Am so proud of myself I didn't want to do it and we've taken 5 hours with half an hour lunch stop included. Wow!!! Four and half hours for 13 miles. Thank you everyone for your amazing donations

Our last day, a gentle circular walk to Dunstanburgh Castle so we don't stiffen up after yesterday, he says! Would have been lovely apart from the gale force winds at times.

SPURN POINT LAST TRIP OF THE YEAR 4 NOVEMBER 2024

 Roy decided we should have one last trip in van for the year and chose Spurn Point as I've never been.

Camped at a small site Elm Tree Farm near Withernsea. On first day which was dreary and dull, we drove to Withernsea had a look at the lighthouse which is built in the middle of a housing estate. We were told they thought the land would erode faster than it has! Looked round shops.

Next day we drove to Hornsea Freeport, about half the shops had closed down, had a wander round Roy bought some trainers and we had lunch there.

Found our way to Hornsea Mere but not a good area for walking, called at Mapperton to look at the beach then back to van.

Our last day we drove to Spurn Point car park and did the 7 mile there and back walk to the very tip of the Point.

A fascinating area with lots of information on the wars, Yorkshire Wildlife and the lifeboat.
