HAY BROW CAMPSITE SCALBY 6 AUGUST 2024

Four nights away in this quiet campsite £20 plus electric at £5 a card.

Not feeling my best  but a lovely time first day drove to Ravenscar and did a well walked hike to Boggle hole along the Cinder track and back by coast trail. Had a drink and cake at cafe.

Second day went to Thornton le Dale Show, got free wrist back from Pete Christopherson as Roy helped put up sheep pens.

Spent about 6 hours there, lots of animals, had a lovely hot roast pork and stuffing, apple sauce sandwich. Saw Squibb again, and good Country band. hunt and hounds, gun dogs, bmx bikes and terrier races.

Last day had a 7km walk from Alison's little book she bought me, got bit wrong but used what 3 words and Navmii. Mostly woods, found a seat at car park when back for lunch.

Celebrated our anniversary with a lovely meal at The Golden Lion in Leyburn.

ALZHEIMERS SOCIETY TREK 13 IN THE LAKES 1ST JUNE 2024

Thursday 30 May saw us driving to Gill Head Farm campsite Troutbeck near Penrith for 4 nights to take part on Saturday in the 13 mile hike from Patterdale  along the edge of Ullswater and upland to Dalemain Mansion.

Blessed with sunshine on Friday, we did a short walk to Aira Force then on to Dockray for a picnic in a lovely area made by the locals for the Queens Platinum Jubilee. We did attempt to do a longer walk but "fortunately" we could not find the trail! I did not want to jigger myself up today! Drove to Glenridding for the ice-cream kid!

SATURDAY 1ST JUNE TREK 13 DAY

How lucky were we, sunshine and warm all day. We started our 13 trek at 9am and finished at 2.45pm. A beautiful hike along Ullswater, lots of ups and downs, lunch at Howtown then through manic Pooley Bridge and back to Dalemain. Just perfect!. They said 1250 people walked and ran today!
Out for a lovely meal at the end of the day!

                                                                    DAELMAIN MANSION

Our last day, Roy asked if I fancied "just" going to Scales Tarn at the base
of Blencathra. After an hour and half climbing up and same coming down, it didn't seem like a Just walk! A cloudier day, me slightly suffering from aches from yesterday, Roy never seems to ache anywhere, we did enjoy lunch at the tarn.
Our Alzheimer's Trek 13 yesterday has raised a great amount well over our aim, our heartfelt thanks go out to all you wonderful people who gave to this superb charity.
