Back to a favourite campsite in Wensleydale for four nights. Glorious day when we arrived, first days walk the weather was humid and overcast but no rain! We did a short 41/2 mile circular walk from Aysgarth to West Burton with some pretty falls and back along the Aysgarth lower falls.
WEST BURTON FALLS
PEPPERPOT FOLLY
Day two was a glorious sunny day, we drove to Reeth and did a 71/2 mile hike up to Fremington Edge and followed the lip of the scar with superb views of the valley below returning via pasture and woodland bordering Arkle Beck. Rewarded with tea, hot chocolate and cake in Reeth.
Our last day, our 32nd wedding anniversary, cloudy, occasional sun, very windy with sprinkles at times.
We drove to Bainbridge and did a superb 51/2 mile hike which appeared to me to be 90% uphill! up to an old Roman road then across and down to Semer Water, along the River Bain then over the hills to Bainbridge and tea and cake/ ice-cream and chocolate for Roy!
Celebrated our anniversary with a lovely meal at The Golden Lion in Leyburn.
