After tea we returned to Roaring Bay hide about 8pm in the hopes of seeing more yellow eyed penguins. The hide was quite busy and as we walked down we spotted a penguin making its way up to its nest.
Once inside the hide we were fortunate to see four more and also see one coming out of the ocean. They're so fast coming in, they are up and walking before you realise it. But so cute to see them waddle up the beach. Preening takes ages and then they make their way to the nest.
As we walked out from the hide, the lady volunteer walked up with us and even though she was not supposed to show us, she pointed out where the nest area was.
How lucky we are!
