Another
stunning day 25oC. Today it dawned on me that the older I get the
more stupid! So why have I not been using our satnav to put towns
in!? We drove over a crazy winding road with no traffic over Feldberg
then it should have been a short distance to Rothaus and the
campsite, however Tallulah my SatNav did not know the road to
Schluchsee was closed. So finally we wound our way round, arrived at
the campsite to find all in the area were full. It's Whitsuntide
weekend holiday! We knew this, why did we expect to get a site! The
lovely man at the full site gave us directions to a site in the
middle of nowhere. We got the last place, it was full of old Mercedes
Orion Campervans in the middle of a field at the end of a static
campsite. Electric and good facilities for 20 Euros. We had the most
wonderful meal at the restaurant attached to the campsite after a
peaceful walk in the Black Forest. We decided to stay until Monday to
avoid not getting a site again.

A WALK IN THE BLACK FOREST |
Next
day we drove to Schluchsee, and walked part way round, had lunch then
rain arrived for the rest of the day. No roaming, phone or wifi at
this site.
ON THE WAY ROUND THE LAKE |
Left
the next day and stopped overnight on the side of Bodensee but
couldn't see a lot of it, onwards into Bavaria and a four night stop
at Oberstdorf where we got one of the last sites. Roy shot off to do
a bike ride and I walked into the pretty centre. Roy came back with a
puncture!
OUR LIMITED VIEW OF BODENSEE OR LAKE CONSTANCE |
Our
first day in Oberstdorf, the best known holiday centre in the Allgau
Alps and renowned for its ski jumps. Dismal start with sprinkles, we
walked into the centre
and
paid a princely sum of 4 Euros to go to the top of the ski jump area.
Quite a hike and a lift at the end for a great view!
CAMPING OBERSTDORF |
Weather
brightened in the afternoon and we drove the short distance to
Breitach Klamm, a river gorge with a 2 km track that winds above the
water that rushes between sheer cliffs rising to heights of 325ft.
And only 4 Euros again!
