After a superb 5 days spent with Jim
and Jenny we headed south east to find some mountains. Bless them,
they sent us off with enough food for an expedition and we're back in
four weeks to see them on our way home!
Weather was kind, sunny spells and
warm. We covered about 170 miles almost without a hitch, just about
at the campsite and a deviation sign suddenly appeared saying Tunnel
du Chat closed April to November, everyone took the diversion then it
announced we were going over the Col du Chat! Quite an induction into
mountain roads with a caravan!.
When we arrived at the site, the girl
said its crazy, they don't tell you its closed till its too late to
turn round and caravans are not supposed to go up there! Well we made
it of course!
Lovely lakeside campsite called L'Ile
aux Cygnes 18 euros, had a walk along lakeside to get the steps in.
