LAC DE LA SASSIERE HIKE

Val d"Isere early morning

Our last day in Val d'Isere, we took a tortuous mountain road up to a car park at 7467ft, amazing views and initially quite clear, then the clouds came in and we geared up for wet weather. We got to the lake, and had a swift, wet lunch sat at the back of a wall. The weather didn't improve for the walk down and rained all afternoon, which later changed to snow!

And then the sun came out! We went for a drive over the Col de l'Iseran in the evening but they had closed the road! Shame, as Roy was going to ride to the top in the morning on his bike.

Our last morning, we took a half hour walk up the valley to Le Fornet, we have loved Val d'Isere! We drove short distance to Brides les Bains, a spa town, and talk about from the sublime to the ridiculous, our last site had only us and this one we just got the last site. The hosts were a great couple who spoke English and said all the fat and ill people come in September to take the waters and the cures!
