It took an hour and an awful lot of short tempers to drive from our peaceful campsite in the hills to Antibes for the day.
Set off and Roy said there's a back door open but didn't stop until we got on the motorway just near Antibes and he suddenly said - the back of the car was open!
Do men not look in their rear view mirror when driving?
Back door closed and nothing lost we made 2 wrong slots, then attempted to find the plage - now here I have to make a comment about French drivers in general - Rude, drive too fast, leap onto roundabouts without stopping, endlessly sound their horns at you!
So much so that as we got to the centre of Antibes, I was in tears, especially when we were at a stop light and the car behind papped at us! I stuck my hand out the window and just gave him a thumbs up and then a perfect French gentleman pulled up on his motor bike at the side of us and said don't cry, don't get upset that's what happens! As we left the lights he pointed us the right way to the beach - there are chivalrous French men but they do seem in short supply.
Car park on the beach found, met up with Roy's friend and her husband from the wildlife who we had arranged to have coffee with - and all was well with the world.
Had a good catch up, then spent the rest of the time wandering along the ramparts, harbour and streets. A lovely sunny day, despite me not wanting to visit the south of France!
Why was the way back so much easier!
Our last day before moving towards the Camargue so Roy found a Lac de Saint Cassien to walk round! Not so much walk round it but in the hills on a dirt road set above the lake, still got my last steps in for the Million Step challenge. In the absence of any outstanding photo, I took pics of the campsite, we are the only ones here as it closes in the morning. Temp 21oC but has clouded in.
