INTERISLANDER FERRY TO NORTH ISLAND

Ferry journey was delightful, sunny warm, three hours+ with lots to see, had lunch, glimpsed a dolphin or two and Roy spotted two Albatross.

Our first sight of North Island was the concrete jungle of Wellington which we quickly drove through heading north. Still seems strange to think that heading north is going to warmer climates as nearer equator!
Scenery was quite mundane, roads straighter, more traffic and much more populated. Speed limit throughout NZ is 100kph/60 mph which most people seem to abide by.

Countryside flat and agricultural, sheep and cows and odd vineyard. But we soon got a good way north heading for the west coast and Whanganui, a campsite that was superb when we finally found it hidden in the depths of the city but on the coast.
