A cultural performance that was real, raw and earthy, full of emotion and power.
In the tranquil natural bush setting, the performance took us back to the ancient Maori customs and traditions. through songs and dances plus tales and legends we learnt a great deal about their fascinating past.
Displays of weaponry and combat, the graceful poi dance by the women and the spine tingling haka finale!
All this followed by the traditional earth cooked hangi feast of chicken and lamb with accompaniments and pudding to follow!
We ended our night with a bush walk in the dark and saw glow worms in their natural habitat.
What a memorable night!
The photos do not do it justice, I did video a lot and will try to put on here some time when home and also on FB
